Ever met a superior person, or a person with superiority complex? There lies a difference here.
I find too many people with the mentioned problem. Yes, it is a problem. Whether or not you are superior, trying to think otherwise is, I think, a more preferable way out.
We have brain-boxes, ie highly intelligent/talented people who walk around this planet. They really are smart people, able to catch on things faster than average speed and reinvent or refurbish ideas into totally fresh new stuff. Sometimes it seems that God spent a little more time on them, but that's another different topic altogether...
Actually, come to think of it, you do not have to be smart to suffer from superior complex, though it's easier if you are smart. A slightly-above-average person may suffer a more serious form of the, erm, mentality disease. The point is this: a superior complex person thinks he is superior, full stop.
Examples of this, erm, mentality disease is everywhere. When these people talk, they are usually quite aggressive, as opposed to being confident. They usually think they should have their way the way it should be. They shoot down, or dismiss ideas from other people they consider inferior. Personally, when I see these people in action, it is as if they cannot wait to showcase the quality and contents of their lives to other people. Heck, they cannot even write to inform; instead, they prefer to show you how much they have managed to jam their brain with the relevant information.
It is quite an unfortunate thing to have, superior complex. I suppose these people find it quite hard to mix around. Granted, people respect or look up to them, but it is different when people actually like you instead.
For Christians, the saying 'God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble' should not be taken lightly. Looking at Christ's testimony, that is, His entire life, He was not the high and mighty type. He was never bored or tired of explaining things to the common folk and the disciples. He washed the feet of His disciples, a final gesture of humility and grace. It is sad, thus, to find fellow brothers and sisters having a good time with superior complex. We miss the point of the Gospel and Its message when we fail to see past ourselves and our accomplishments.
It is rather difficult to cure this, erm, thing. Hard lessons help, I suppose. Lessons that drill into the heart and wake the mind to its current state.
Hopefully none of my readers detect such trait in me, and me them. We are much better off without this in the way of communicating with people, and in the process, to grow to love them.
