2010 began with people growing up and going to places. That should be everyone's 2010 I guess. I had 3 of my friends leaving for their destination. This mini exodus led me to think of last year, January 2009, when I faced similar situation, nearly a friendless one.
I don't know if it's right, but I see that everybody from different walks of life are rather comfortable in their own capacity. Capacity here means the things they do, the thoughts they dwell in, and the belief of their lives. Zooming in and out of these capacities creates disillusionment. I enjoy being able to travel in between, but once a while tiredness creeps in, and this is one of them. The departure of friends into various capacities further nails this feeling home.
There is a quote from someone, saying that 'change in the only constant thing in life' . Looking at my life right now, I suppose this person is right, especially in modern context. Departure is always difficult, because to me, once someone leaves and embraces a new change, he or she is changed as well. I think it's called influence. Influence from a different social of friends, from your room mate, from exotic music, from a different physical setting, and whatnot. The relationship changes as well. Sometimes they soured. Sometimes they just, well... slipped into the realm of oblivion.
Things will never be the same. People are participants of things, hence they usually jump on the bandwagon. I cannot follow suit the style of those wu xia characters, who view departure and leaving of friends as something to be proud of. Not yet. For now, I suppose I will just have to learn to live with it, to accept it in a stoic manner.
Life goes on. School reopens, lines and lines of parents holding students waiting to be registered in their selected schools.
Life goes on. Say your goodbyes, send your best wishes, and it is forever.
Life goes on. Every day there is a new notification waiting for you in facebook.
Tashakor (thanks) for the memories.
