We arrived at Shanghai.
As expected, concrete jungle and steel. The history is there though, like many of China's tourist spots. The buildings and the manner in which they were build all had stories of their own. Shanghai has always been an international city, and vestiges of foreign influence exist everywhere in the modern metropolitan.
Despite all its glory and development, I still did not feel close to the place. Probably my anti-city sentiments at play again. The roads are bigger than Penang or KL ones, yet the cars are overwhelming the network. The city was noisy and, in certain unfinished parts, dirty as well. Not to mention the massive crowd everywhere we went.
However, it was certainly something to see a Chinese city to be this developed and modern. Several layers of flyovers took up the sky, and skyscrapers matched the battle for space. The Underground was extremely impressive and organised, but I thought that they should have build more as the populace is simply overwhelming.

Although they are very well-developed, I guess they just need time to be more organized and civilized.
and your anti-city sentiments. I guess your children will not grow up in a city in the future? :)
