She just sat next to him.

He was her respite from all the attention given to her, her silent shelter from the cacophonous madness known as the mating season.
She got up, the spring returning to her steps. Those red Christmas shoes looked ready to party once again. She walked to the crowd, away from him.
He didn't bat an eyelid.
